First Post of 2024

"Gee, I haven't been on Newgrounds all year!"

So, this is 2024? Gee, seems kinda boring tbh. I woke up in the middle of the night/early morning (approx 4:20, nice) to type this up. So, this burning question remains... What's gonna happen this year?

Well, I haven't made any true commitments from New Year's Eve, but one thing I do want to do is to make more works, i.e art, writing, etc. I feel that 2023 was a period in which I had shed off a naivety regarding art and fully developed it into a recognizable work that I am 'proud' to call my own. As for writing, I feel that I'm gonna work on a bit more on an idea I've been working on. It's gonna be great, trust me.

What happened to that Fortnite fanfic?

Assuming you've been keeping up with my stuff, I was writing a Fortnite fanfiction around the summer, circa May-August of 2023. The thing is, I left my master file on my old MacBook, and now it's stuck in a limbo. I have chapters 1-4 up on Newgrounds and (ew) FurAffinity (double-ew) profile, but as for chapter 5? You're gonna need to wait on it because it's half finished.

Oh, shit. I forgot to upload the fourth one onto Newgrounds. :L

Anything else?

I'm thinking of buying a new PC. I really want to get deeper into PC gaming, but I don't know where to start in this day and age (compared to a few years ago, where I was somewhat competent in tech news).

LIFE UPDAYYYTE: o(≧口≦)o

Alright, happy 11th of October. I've been going through a lot of stuff this month, and I'd like to disclose it with all of you.

A few unspecified days ago, I applied for a job at a local dairy store here in town. Y'know, burgers and ice cream and all that shizz. They accepted. I now have a job. This is my first job, and I'm so fucking excited. My first day is tomorrow, and I'm so hyped for this. I don't know how to explain it ig, I guess I'm ready to do that regular coming of age stuff.

Before that, though, I had my birthday, which coincided with a debate tournament. So, I had a little fun time there... Except for the fact that my coach forgot to book me on anything. This, I'm sure you could see, fuckin ruined my day for the next six hours. I had a filet-o-fish (my sad times comfort meal) and the doordasher who gave me the meal was super nice (we were at a school, so we had to order our food through delivery, since it took too long with the bus.)

So, why was I super glad about it? After the awards ceremony (we won 2nd place in sweepstakes overall), I went to the bathroom. While I was drying my hands with the fancy-ass air dryers that school had, somebody was banging on the door. They, as well as my coach, were calling for me, and my coach told me to close my eyes. As she led me through the hall, I had this anticipation going on...

It was a surprise party. ("▔□▔)

I was so shocked that I nearly started crying. I mean, after how shitty of a day, this turnaround was a complete shocker. It made my day. As we were on the bus that night, I was very happy, playing FF6 on my laptop on the ride home (trust me I own the game.)

So, that's been my month so far.

I'd like to disclose that I'm still bisexual. Happy Coming Out Day, folks.

I don't really want to talk about it to people IRL, hence why I haven't talked about it on Twitter or Bluesky or Mastrodon. Nobody from those places actually check out my Newgrounds (nix @Tritnew (hey bestie)) so I'm putting it right here. On the bottom of a blog post nobody will read. So, let's talk about something. Why am I posting shit, and not shitposting? IDK. I might be burnt out, or it might be the depression. Overall, it might just be the fact that I have too much on my plate right now, and this part of my life is just full of critical decisions that will make or break my life.

But yet I don't think of myself as depressed. I just feel *meh* for a few days. Could it be bipolar ii disorder? Could it be me being on the internet too long (hell no, I've checked)? The world may never know, and at this point, I don't think it will.

Oh well. At least I have some plans coming up. Not the Fortnite fanfic though. I'm putting that thing on hiatus.

No, I'm not. However, I might. I can load up GarageBand '09 on my MacBook, but I don't know anything about music theory, or how to make music, or anything to do with music except for my very basic critiquing of it.

Though, this doesn't mean I was scouted all for naught. I am looking to create some music, but just give me a year or two.

In other news, I'm pretty good at Fortnite. I just beat some dude in a build fight. I'll go work on my fanfic now, to please the masses.

Yep, it's happening again.

I go to this little summer program thingy, and it's been really draining. Since it's draining on my mentality, I can't particularly find the time to work on any of my projects. Since I can't work on any of my projects, it's making me quite sad. Since I'm quite sad, I become apathetic and don't have the will to do much of anything and... You see the vicious cycle I'm going through too, right?

Anyways, just letting you know that I probably won't be working on much right now, but stay tuned, because it might be awesome or something.

Alright, so I was messing with partitions, and I nearly screwed things up big time. First off, let me give some necessary context.

I use Linux. Linux Mint to be exact. Really well built operating system, but you can screw things up if you don't know what you're doing, as per other computer systems. What does this have to do with the stuff I have on here (notably the Fortnite fanfiction and some other story I'm leaving on the backburner) is the question begging to be answered. Ubiquity, the installer used to install the operating system, doesn't have an OS upgrade/replace option. Anyways, getting that out of the way...

I fiddled around with the partition map, and I decided to move a partition and extend it. The problem occurred when I had moved it (which turned out to be unnecessary) and it screwed up with moving some files. Therefore, I nearly lost everything. Luckily, I had a plan.

I had booted to live USB, and copied all of my work into a tarball archive, which was compressed (because the USB only had like 3 gigs left of space.) I reinstalled Linux Mint, and as soon as I had moved it all, I opened the file manager on the USB, and moved all of the stuff to a folder. I booted into the desktop, lo and behold, I still had my fanfics, meme folder, and some old crypto wallet I never use.

Huzzah.

and instead of seeing cool two-dimensional characters there, I just saw the guy from Blur and a few other people play their songs. Don't get me wrong, it was cool, but I feel mislead.

Rant Thread: Furry Conventions, Groomers, and Other Shit

Context:

This Twitter thread was made as a response to Twitter user Spiralvro, on a tweet regarding their experience at Furry Weekend Atlanta. He was struggling with the constant two-faced nature of the fandom, as well as the constant call-out culture and other toxicities within.

Later on in the convention, notwithstanding the constant sexual comments he had been getting, Spiral was sexually assaulted by someone during the after hours section of the convention, that is, being groped. These experiences ultimately disillusioned him with the fandom, and left him considering leaving the fandom.

On 13th May, 2023, he had posted a tweet stating that Furry Weekend Atlanta could be "[his] last convention for a very long time," and deciding to sell off his fursuit. The tweet read and implied that he would be leaving the fandom, and referred to details that would be posted through his Instagram page.

Later, on the 14th of May, he had posted another tweet explaining what had happened, in the form of four Apple Notes screenshots. It also showed that he had also talked with some friends about the situation, and is now considering to stay in the furry community. This tweet is the source of the information stated above.

I had posted a thread of tweets explaining my reaction to the situation. However, I posted it as a Twitter Circle post instead of publicly, to avoid offending the OP and other furries. I now feel that my opinion should be deemed enough to post publicly, albeit through a lesser format (such as Newgrounds Blogs). It will take some more consideration to see if I should post this thread on Twitter.

Please note that these are totally my reactions, unfiltered from the tweets made in thread. However, though these are my reactions to this situation, note that I am not categorizing every furry to be this way. In fact, I've met furries who are the opposite of what I am describing. However, I really don't care about that right then, it's more of a "off my chest post". I do not mean any true ill will against any group of people.

God, I fucking hate furries.

Like all of you fuckers act like "oh the fandom is all good and safe and perfect etc etc" but as soon as shit like this happens, you heel 180 and talk about how creeps infiltrate the fandom. Like the paperfaces they are.

It's a shame, because when I, along with other nobodies, try pointing the attention, we all get lambasted. Being accused of "breaking the magic."

The "magic" of the fandom cannot be broken because it hasn't existed for the past fifteen years.

It's a choice between learning the "easy way" and the "hard way" regarding creeps in the fandom. Strangely enough, it's always the "hard way" that comes out on top.

This reminds me a lot about Nineteen-Eighty-Four by George Orwell. Yes, this sounds corny, but hear me out:

The proles in the book are always ignorant of the things happening in Oceania, whether it be willfully or through forced conditioning.

Yes, you know what I'm getting at. The furry community is a bunch of proles. They learn about petty drama though their media, and preform a Two Minutes Hate against the instigator, then forget about it a week later.

There's a full on Hate Week here and there, but at the end of the day, the furry fandom is a bunch of droning little pathetic proles.

Anyways, that's my little tirade for the day. Whether this be a cautionary tale of keeping a fandom unchecked or a "every once in a while thing" that happens nearly every convention is up to your volition. Then again, most of you can't even make independent thoughts.

I'll probably repost this publicly, get lambasted to the second power, get blocked by Spiral, etc etc, but there's a snowball's chance I'm going to gain any traction with twenty-four[six] followers.
